Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the PE-VPS engine assembly is 105 kg. The Mazda PE-VPS engine number is located at the junction with the gearbox. In the early years, there was a problem with cold starts, but the new firmware fixed everything. This unit does not like bad gasoline, as it quickly clogs the fuel system. Expensive ignition coils often fail due to poor quality fuel as well. Due to wear on the plastic tensioner roller, the serpentine belt frequently breaks. Just like on all Skyactiv-G engines, the electronic thermostat regularly fails here.
