Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 1G-E engine according to the catalog is 180 kg. The engine number 1G-E is located to the right of the oil filter. When using cheap lubricant, the oil supply line becomes clogged here. As a result, the camshaft quickly wears out and the hydraulic compensators fail. The main cause of fluctuating rpm is throttle contamination and ECU glitches. The weak point of the engine is the oil pressure sensor, which not only malfunctions but also leaks. After 150,000 km, the oil control rings often get clogged and there is an increase in lubricant consumption.
