Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M18A engine assembly is 110 kg. The engine number M18A is located at the junction with the gearbox. Owners of cars with this engine often complain about high oil consumption. The engine tends to overheat quickly and frequently blows the head gasket. The fluctuating RPM of the engine is usually caused by throttle or EGR valve contamination. Weak points of the unit also include short-lived supports and problematic sensors. With high mileage, the cylinder liners may sink, leading to coolant mixing with the oil.
