Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the H25A engine assembly is 170 kg. The engine number H25A is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. The timing mechanism consists of three chains and three hydraulic tensioners, which are very demanding in terms of the quality of the oil used and the schedule for its replacement. Trying to save on these can result in tensioner failure and catastrophic chain skipping, which is fatal for the engine. Oil consumption is often accompanied by excessive oil consumption after 150,000 km, and it tends to increase rapidly over time. The main cause is not worn rings or valve caps, but rather a clogged oil labyrinth in the valve covers, which is part of the crankcase ventilation system. Oil leaks are one of the most common problems with engines in the N series. The oil often leaks from the front engine cover, both crankshaft seals, or through the gaskets of the oil channel at the junction of the block with the crankshaft bed or oil pan. Other weaknesses of such engines include an unreliable mass airflow sensor and a quickly clogging EGR valve, as well as frequent rupture of its connecting pipe.

The 2.4-liter gasoline engine J24B by Suzuki has been produced since 2008 and is still in use. Throughout this time, it has only been installed in two models: the Grand Vitara crossover and the Kizashi sedan, which is why there are two versions of this engine - longitudinal and transverse. The J-engine lineup also includes: J18A, J20A, J20B, and J23A.

Suzuki K10a engine

The 1.0-liter, 16-valve Suzuki K10A engine was produced by the company from 1997 to 2006 and installed in export models of Wagon R, known as Plus, Wide or Solio. Later versions of this engine were equipped with variable valve timing on the intake and turbocharging. The K-engine lineup also includes the following units: K6A, K10B, K12B, K14B, K14C, and K15B.

Suzuki K12b engine

The 1.2-liter 16-valve Suzuki K12B engine was produced in Japan from 2008 to 2020, initially in the standard version and from 2013 in the Dualjet version with two injectors per cylinder. In the Chinese market, this engine was used in Changan models with the JL473Q index. The K engine line also includes: K6A, K10A, K10B, K14B, K14C, and K15B.

Geely Jlc-4g18 Engine

The 1.8-liter Geely JLC-4G18 or 1.8 DVVT engine has been produced in China since 2016 and is currently only installed in the second generation of the Emgrand X7 crossover and the GS hatchback. This power unit is a modification of the JLY-4G18 engine, which already comes equipped with two-phase regulators. Also part of the JLC engine family is the JLC-4G15.

Mitsubishi 4g63 engine

The 2.0-liter gasoline engine Mitsubishi 4G63 or G63B has been produced since 1980. For a long time, it was installed in mass models of the conglomerate until it finally made its way to the Chinese. This powertrain was actively used by Hyundai under its own index G4JP. The 4G6 line also includes the following engines: 4G61, 4G62, 4G63T, 4G64, 4G67, and 4G69.
