Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 4G69 engine according to the catalog is 175 kg. The engine number 4G69 is located on the cylinder block. Like all engines in this series, the main problem here is with unreliable belts. The balancer belt can unexpectedly break and get caught in the timing belt. At high engine speeds, this results in the timing belt breaking and valve bending. The tensioner pulley and accessory drive system also have low reliability. There are no hydraulic lash adjusters here, and valve clearances need to be adjusted every 50,000 km.
