Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 4G64 engine according to the catalog is 180 kg. The engine number 4G64 is located on the cylinder block. All main problems of this power unit are related to poor or old lubrication. Dirty oil quickly leads to seizing of the balance shafts and breaking of their belt. Following the balance belt, the timing belt often breaks and the valves bend. Hydraulic lifters do not serve for a long time here, as well as engine mounts. The reason for fluctuating RPM is usually due to throttle, injector, or EGR valve contamination.
