Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the G4DG engine is 112 kg (without attachments). The engine number G4DG is located near the spark plug of the first cylinder. The main issue with the engine is oil consumption due to worn piston rings. Floating engine speed is a common problem due to throttle valve wear. Pay attention to the condition of the timing belt, as a breakage usually leads to bent valves. Many Hyundai owners with this engine complain about difficult starting in winter. Unreliable fuel pump and weak engine mounts are also frequently criticized on forums.
