Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the DV6DTED engine according to the catalog is 135 kg. The engine number DV6DTED is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The problematic Bosch CP48 valve motor of this series with a power of up to 100 hp was equipped with a Bosch CP4S1 fuel injection pump, in which the plunger rollers got stuck. Then they started pushing chips into the system. Until the manufacturer realized it, many diesel engines were produced with this pump. Very rarely, unexpected valve plate breakage occurs in these power units, which is fatal for the engines. It is likely that a batch of defective valves ended up on the assembly line. Like in any modern diesel engine, the EGR valve and the dosing throttle quickly become clogged here, leading to their sticking and unstable engine operation. In addition, in diesel engines of this series, oil often leaks from under the valve cover, and coolant frequently seeps from under the gasket of the oil filter heat exchanger. And when the timing belt breaks, not only the rockers, but also the cam lobes are destroyed here.
