Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EJ151 engine assembly is 110 kg. The engine number EJ151 is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The main problem with this engine is its low power, even the Impreza doesn't perform well with it. In second place is excessive oil consumption and constant oil leaks from gaskets and seals. Severe drop in lubrication level often results in bearing failure. Due to a weak and unreliable cooling system, this unit frequently overheats. The appearance of knocking in the fourth cylinder means that the block has warped after overheating.
