Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EJ203 engine assembly is 135 kg. The engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The main problems Subaru owners have with this unit are related to oil consumption. The lubrication not only burns, but also constantly leaks from all gaskets and seals. In case of a significant drop in oil level in the system, the bearings may rotate. Due to glitches in the electronic throttle valve, the engine speed often fluctuates. The engine is afraid of overheating, which leads to blockage and the appearance of knocks in the cylinders.
