Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the GW4D20D engine is 210 kg (with attachments). The engine number GW4D20D can be found on the cylinder block. The motor has been in production for only a couple of years, so there is not much data on its failures yet. At the moment, the engine does not present any serious problems. The weak point is considered to be the Delphi fuel system, as it does not tolerate low-quality diesel fuel. There are several cases described on foreign forums where the booster pump had to be replaced. As with any modern diesel engine, the EGR and intake manifold quickly become contaminated.
