Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the OM606 engine according to the catalog is 245 kg. The engine number OM606 is located at the front, at the junction with the cylinder head. The vibration load on this diesel engine affects the lifespan of its supports. The timing chain can stretch as early as 150-200 thousand kilometers, which is dangerous for the engine. The power unit is afraid of overheating, it can warp or even crack the cylinder head. The fuel injection pump (TNVD) is sensitive to air suction, which is facilitated by quick-release couplings. Poor quality oil can cause hydraulic compensators to make noise at a mileage of 100,000 km.
