Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the OM640 engine according to the catalog is 160 kg. The OM640 engine number is located at the joint of the block and the oil pan. This is a very reliable diesel engine with Common Rail Bosch and electromagnetic injectors. The main problems are caused by EGR valve or dosing flap contamination. If you have starting issues, check the fuel pressure control valve on the rail. The generator, thermostat, and boost pressure sensor have a relatively low lifespan. It is worth considering that for many tasks, the motor needs to be lowered together with the subframe.
