Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the OM668 engine according to the catalog is 136 kg. The OM668 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. There is little space under the hood, and in order to service the diesel engine, it needs to be lowered with a subframe. The Bosch fuel system is reliable, with only the fuel pressure regulator often failing. If there is a loss of power, check the pressure sensor in the intake manifold and its hose. Fuel leaks from the injection pump or oil leaks from the heat exchanger are also commonly found here. Weak points of this unit also include the flow meter, generator, and EGR valve. The turbocharger cannot be called weak, but it often requires repair by 200,000 km of mileage. After 200,000 km, piston rings often get stuck and oil consumption appears.
