Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the B18C engine according to the catalog is 120 kg. The engine number B18C is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. Both in regular and in turbocharged versions, this unit is very reliable. Up to 100,000 km, only the thermostat and water pump can fail in the engine. The timing belt needs to be replaced at 90,000 km, otherwise it may cause valve bending if it breaks. There are many cases described on forums of cylinder head gasket failure at high mileage. Valves require adjustment every 40,000 km as there are no hydraulic compensators here.
