Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the B18B engine according to the catalog is 125 kg. The engine number B18B is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. This series of engines is very reliable and practically has no characteristic weak points. Among the limited resources, only the thermostat and water pump may have issues. After 200,000 km of mileage, there is an increased risk of sudden cylinder head gasket failure. The timing belt is designed for 90,000 km, and if it breaks, it may result in bent valves. Valve adjustment is required every 40,000 km since there are no hydraulic lifters.
