Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the EJ20E engine assembly is 130 kg. The engine number EJ20E is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The EJ20 family of engines is mostly known for its excessive oil consumption. Oil is not only burned here, but also leaks from gaskets and seals. A drop in lubrication level in the system often results in bearing rotation. These engines are also prone to overheating, and the cooling system is not very reliable. After 200,000 km, a knock often appears in the fourth cylinder, requiring an overhaul.
