Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 2AD-FHV engine according to the catalog is 195 kg. The engine number 2AD-FHV is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. Head gasket failure is a well-known issue with engines from this line, as well as frequent erosion of the mating surface of the aluminum cylinder block with the head. In second place is high oil consumption, which starts from the first kilometers of mileage. Initially, the manufacturer even replaced pistons under warranty, but it did not help. Service technicians recommend replacing the washers under the injectors approximately every 60,000 km, or they will burn out. After that, it becomes difficult to remove the injectors without causing damage. These are typical problems for modern diesel engines: rapid EGR valve fouling, turbine geometry sticking due to carbon deposits, low lifespan of piezo injectors and SCV valves, regular failures in DPF regeneration, as well as injector failure.
