Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 1KD-FTV engine according to the catalog is 260 kg. The engine number 1KD-FTV is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. Until 2011, the aluminum pistons in these engines often cracked. The injectors do not tolerate poor fuel quality and can get clogged after 100,000 km of mileage. Problems with unstable engine operation can be resolved by adjusting the valves. The power unit is prone to carbon buildup, ring sticking, and excessive oil consumption. Many owners complain about its noisy operation and strong vibrations.
