Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 5L-E engine according to the catalog is 240 kg. The engine number 5L-E is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. Atmospheric L-series diesel engines are quite reliable, but they operate noisily and with vibrations. Unreliable water pump is also considered a weak point of such units. Around 200-250 thousand km of mileage, numerous oil leaks often occur. Pay attention to the condition of the timing belt, as valve bending and camshaft breakage can happen. Hydraulic compensators are not provided here, and valve clearances require adjustment.
