Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the BGP engine when assembled is 161 kg. The BGP engine number is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. In the early years of production, these units suffered from very rapid timing chain stretching. The main cause of power loss is often the fuel pump or its clogged filter. Ignition coils, water pump, and throttle body have a relatively short service life. Among electrical components, the camshaft position sensor and coolant temperature sensor are more prone to failure. Additionally, the vacuum pump membrane and the gasket of the vacuum pump system have a short lifespan.
