Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the FED engine according to the catalog is 163.2 kg. The FED engine number is located at the joint between the block and the cylinder head. It is a reliable unit, but its aluminum cylinder head is susceptible to overheating and easily cracks. It is also not recommended to skimp on oil, as the hydraulic lifters will quickly start making noise. The timing belt rarely lasts more than 50,000 km, but if it breaks, the valves do not bend. Around 200,000 km, oil consumption usually starts due to worn rings or valve seals. Weak points of this engine include the ignition system, cylinder head gasket, and engine mounts.
