It is a simple, but not very durable unit and all problems arise from natural wear and tear. The timing belt can break before reaching 50,000 km, resulting in bent valves. The use of cheap lubricant can cause the oil pump relief valve and hydraulic compensators to jam. Around 200,000 km, the oil control rings often become stuck, leading to oil consumption.
