Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the A5D engine according to the catalog is 131.7 kg. The engine number A5D is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. It is a reliable, but not the most durable unit, and most of its problems are due to wear. The timing belt serves very little, sometimes less than 50,000 km, and when it breaks, it bends the valves. Closer to 200,000 km, oil consumption often occurs due to the wear of the rings and valve seals. The reduction valve of the oil pump often seizes due to cheap lubricant. The ignition system, including spark plugs, coils, and wiring, is also considered a weak point of the engine.
