Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the BFD engine according to the catalog is 125.5 kg. The engine number for the BFD is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. It is a reliable engine and most of its problems come from natural wear and tear. The timing belt doesn't last very long, but if it breaks, the valves won't bend. After 200,000 km, oil consumption usually occurs due to ring and cap wear. Hydrocompensators do not tolerate cheap lubrication and can start knocking as early as 100,000 km. Weak points of the engine include the ignition system, fuel pump, and unreliable wiring.
