Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the K7J engine according to the catalog is 125 kg. The engine number K7J is located at the junction of the block with the gearbox. Cracks in the ignition coil. Until 2012, unsuccessful ignition coils were installed on the 8-valve K-series engines, which often cracked. Moisture would get into the cracks and the engine would immediately start misfiring. Floating RPMs. The second most common problem with the engine is fluctuating idle RPMs. The usual cause is contamination of the throttle body, fuel injectors, or the idle control valve. Oil and coolant leaks. Engines of this series often suffer from lubricant leaks from the front crankshaft seal, valve cover, and oil separator. Coolant usually seeps along the thermostat housing. Timing belt breakage. The timing belt here lasts much longer than the recommended 60,000 km, but often breaks due to pump pulley or tensioner roller failure. As a result of the break, the valves are almost always bent. Minor breakdowns. This engine has a relatively low lifespan for its bearings and crankshaft damper pulley. Also, do not forget about periodic adjustment of the valve clearance.
