Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the J7R engine assembly is 150 kg. The engine number J7R is located on the cylinder block. Like all old French engines, the main electrical problems are the most troublesome here. But the most hassle is caused by regular leaks through gaskets or seals. Oil often gets into the ignition distributor and the unit starts misfiring. Lubrication can also drip directly onto the timing belt, and if it breaks, it bends the valves. Low oil level quickly wears out the bearings, and then the engine seizes.
