Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the engine 22R-TE according to the catalog is 175 kg. The engine number 22R-TE is located on the cylinder block. Firstly, it is a very rare turbocharged engine, so there may be difficulties with service and spare parts. Secondly, its drawback is considered to be high fuel consumption: up to 25 liters in the city. The ignition system is also among the weak points, with the distributor often failing. On long distances, the timing chain often stretches and the turbocharger consumes oil. Since there are no hydraulic compensators, the valves need to be adjusted every 100,000 km.
