The main issue in this series of engines is considered to be the destruction of the crankshaft pulley. The remaining problems of the engine are somehow related to increased oil consumption. Due to contamination of the crankcase ventilation, lubrication leaks from gaskets and seals. The main cause of oil consumption here is usually the hardened oil control caps. Other places where lubricant leakage can occur are the oil filter housing and the heat exchanger.
