Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M119 engine according to the catalog is 205 kg. The engine number can be found in two places. One of the most reliable engines in its class rarely bothers owners. The weak point of the engine is the timing chain, which often stretches at around 120,000 km. The impressive weight of the power unit negatively affects the lifespan of its mounts. The plastic connectors for oil supply to the hydraulic compensators often require replacement. On all E-Class models, the underhood wiring tends to crack quickly.
