Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M166 engine according to the catalog is 95 kg. The engine number M166 is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. In the early years of production, the engine was equipped with an unreliable ECU with a built-in flow meter. Corrosion and rapid wear of camshafts and camshaft journals are also common here. Due to loose VKG pipes, the smell of exhaust gases may be felt in the cabin. The timing chain, generator, water pump, and oil pump have a low lifespan. Due to its unusual design, many operations are performed with the removal of the engine.
