The weakest point of this power unit is its camshaft drive mechanism. Due to rapid wear of the balancer shaft sprockets, the entire timing mechanism becomes unserviceable. Another known problem is the sticking of the intake manifold flaps. Plastic cylinder head plugs leak oil at 50-70 thousand km.
