Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M276 engine according to the catalog is 172 kg. The engine number M276 is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The most problematic part of this power unit is the timing chain tensioners. If they fail, the entire timing system with phasers will have to be replaced. Also, on these engines, the impulse discs on the camshafts often shift. The injectors of the direct injection system are sensitive to the quality of the fuel consumed. On the forum, there are a couple of cases described where catalytic converter debris caused scoring.
