Suzuki D13AA engine

The 1.3-liter diesel engine Suzuki D13AA or 1.3 DDiS was produced from 2003 to 2017 and installed in European versions of the Swift, Ignis, and Splash models. This engine was basically a clone of the Fiat 1.3 JTD engine. The modification of this engine with a power of 90 HP and 200 Nm is still used in Asian models of the group. The Fiat diesel engine line also includes the engines: D16AA, D19AA, and D20AA.

Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the D13AA engine in assembly is 142 kg. The engine number D13AA is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. First of all, this diesel engine is known for freezing the VKG system in severe frost. The timing chain has an unstable lifespan and can last between 100 and 300 thousand km. The fuel system Bosch is reliable, with only the pressure regulator occasionally failing. Although not common, there are cases of the plunger of the oil pump reduction valve getting stuck. The EGR soot filter and the perpetually leaking heat exchanger also cause trouble.
