Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the Z13DTH engine according to the catalog is 140 kg. The engine number Z13DTH is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. A drop in oil level often leads to chain skipping and rocker breakage. The timing chain itself, especially its hydraulic tensioner, has a very limited lifespan. Due to contamination, the EGR valve gets stuck and the engine stalls immediately after starting. The engine is also very sensitive to low coolant levels, and the thermostat often leaks. When the diesel particulate filter burns out, fuel gets into the lubrication system and it needs to be replaced.
