Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the Z19DT engine according to the catalog is 180 kg. The engine number Z19DT is located at the front, where the block meets the gearbox. It is a simple and reliable engine, as it does not have problematic swirl flaps. The weak point of the Common Rail Bosch fuel system is the metering valve. On high mileage, injectors often start leaking, but they are usually repairable. The turbocharger here has a good lifespan, except that its variable geometry vanes can coke up and get stuck. The exhaust manifold may crack or deform around the 4th cylinder.
