Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the ZD30DDTi engine according to the catalog is 242 kg. The engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. In the early years of production, there was a high incidence of engine failure due to piston scuffing. Fuel system components, including injectors and fuel pumps, often cause problems. The engine is sensitive to overheating, which can quickly lead to blown gaskets and cracked cylinder heads. Installing a turbo timer is mandatory, otherwise the turbocharger won't last long. The auxiliary belt tensioner requires replacement every 50-60 thousand kilometers. In extremely cold temperatures, the mating surface of the exhaust manifold often warps. Electrical failures of the mass airflow sensor are quite common.
