Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the TD23 engine according to the catalog is 230 kg. The TD23 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. The engine is very noisy and prone to vibrations due to the gear drive of the timing mechanism. The gears wear out at a mileage of 250,000 km and the camshaft phases are disturbed. At approximately the same mileage, the pump or gasket of the gear block starts leaking. In terms of electrical components, only the oil pressure sensor and crankshaft position sensor malfunction. Detonation caused by poor fuel causes cracks in the baffles between the swirl chambers.
