Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the RD28 engine according to the catalog is 220 kg. The RD28 engine number is located at the junction of the block and the cylinder head. The cylinder head of this diesel engine easily cracks due to overheating. The timing belt has a lifespan of about 90,000 kilometers, and if it breaks, it can bend the valves. The engine idle speed usually fluctuates due to sensors or wiring issues. Oil leaks can occur from the crankshaft seal or oil cooler gasket. Typically, hydraulic lifters start to make noise around 100-150,000 kilometers.
