Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the LUV engine according to the catalog is 130 kg. The LUV engine number is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. These turbo engines are primarily known for their decrease in performance in cold weather. The culprit is the freezing of the PCV valve or the turbine bypass valve. For the same reasons, dealers regularly replaced the intake manifolds on these engines. If the above-mentioned problems are ignored, the turbocharger does not last for a long time. The oil rings can get clogged up before reaching 100,000 km, resulting in oil consumption. Owners of early engines often experienced piston damage due to detonation. Weak points include the short-lived upper timing chain guide and the water pump.
