Engine Overview and Common Failures

The engine weight of 256T according to the catalog is 210 kg. The engine number 256T is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. This diesel engine is very susceptible to overheating, and the cylinder head often cracks. Around 150,000 km, the timing of the gas distribution can be thrown off due to chain stretching. Cracks in the hot part of the turbine often appear at approximately the same mileage. Saving on oil here leads to rapid wear of the plunger pair of the fuel pump. Difficult cold starting usually indicates failure of the priming pump.
