Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the 204D3 engine according to the catalog is 178 kg. The engine number 204D3 is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. Compared to Rover diesel engines, this engine is more demanding in terms of fuel quality. The weak point of the Bosch Common Rail is the fuel pressure regulator on the rail. The swirl flaps in the intake manifold often detach and fall into the cylinders. Approximately every 100 thousand km, the crankshaft damper pulley needs to be replaced. On high mileage, the crankshaft of engines in this family can suddenly crack.
