The main problem of this diesel engine is the cracking of the cylinder head due to overheating. The timing chain often stretches, causing the phases of gas distribution to be thrown off. Cheap or old oil quickly affects the condition of the plunger pair of the fuel pump. Difficult cold start indicates a failure of the priming pump. Turbocharger often needs replacement after mileage of over 150,000 kilometers.
