Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the M21 engine according to the catalog is 194 kg. The engine number M21 is located at the junction of the block and the oil pan. This diesel engine cannot tolerate prolonged overheating, which can cause cracks in the cylinder head. The engine will not start if the glow plug control unit fails. Often, the oil supply hoses to the radiator crack here and the lubrication pressure drops. Keep an eye on the condition of the timing belt, as it can stretch, jump, and disrupt the timing. Sometimes there are unintentional starter activations while driving in traffic jams.
