Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the D3EA engine according to the catalog is 176.1 kg. The engine number D3EA is located at the junction with the gearbox. First of all, this is a quite noisy engine, prone to excessive vibrations. The fuel system, specifically the injectors or the high-pressure pump (TNVD), often worry the owners the most. Keep an eye on the timing belt, as its breakage can cause valve damage. Due to the gaskets burning under the injectors, the unit quickly becomes clogged with carbon deposits from the inside. The power unit often stalls at certain RPMs due to ECU glitches. A clogged oil receiver leads to oil starvation of the bearings and their rotation. With mileage over 200,000 km, the cylinder head often cracks.
