Engine Overview and Common Failures

The dry weight of the EXN engine according to the catalog is 220 kg. The EXN engine number is located on the cylinder block. Most complaints on forums are related to leaks, especially from the oil cooler. They are not reliable and the pipes often burst. Additionally, all hoses tend to leak. Due to poor fuel quality, the finicky fuel injection pump fails and starts generating metal shavings. There have been cases where the turbo overheats and fails due to a deteriorated corrugated hose. The particulate filter and EGR system cooler are also considered weak points of the unit.
