Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior
The paint coating is thin, but the body of undamaged cars holds up well. Corrosion can be found on the wheel arches and above the windshield, while the exhaust system rusts. The car's interior is spacious and comfortable, and it also impresses with a large number of options. The quality of the finishing materials is not high, and the sound insulation is quite weak.
Engine
The gasoline engines G4KA and G4KC are very reliable and cause minimal trouble. Their updated versions, G4KD and G4KE, are known for cylinder scoring. The 3.3-liter V6 engine G6DB consumes not only a lot of fuel but also oil. The rare D4EA diesel engine with a capacity of 2.0 liters is famous for the whims of its fuel system.
Transmission
The manual transmissions M5GF1 and M5GF2 have proven themselves in the best way possible. The only drawbacks are the modest lifespan of the clutch and dual-mass flywheel. The 4-speed automatic transmissions Mitsubishi F4A42 and F4A51 may not be responsive, but they are quite reliable. The proprietary 5-speed automatic transmissions A5GF1 and A5HF1 also do not have any major issues.
Suspension
The suspension in the car is excessively soft, but most of its components last a long time. The only thing that owners often complain about is the knocking noise when driving over uneven surfaces. Only the stabilizer bushings and some silent blocks need to be replaced before reaching 100,000 km. The steering rack is quite reliable and only leaks at distances exceeding 150-200,000 km.
Brakes
The car's brakes are weak in terms of performance and durability, and the parking brake often rusts.
