Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior: The paint coating is weak, but the body is galvanized and holds up well on undamaged cars. Owners only complain about chrome swelling, sometimes even after the first winter. The car's interior is spacious and comfortable, and it is filled with various options. However, the steering wheel quickly peels off and squeaks appear, and the sound insulation is poor. Electrical Weaknesses: The weak points of the electrical system include the steering column wiring harness and the brake pedal switch. Engine: Both engines, the 2.0 G4KD and 2.4 G4KE, are very reliable and low-maintenance. The reputation of these engines is overshadowed by the occurrence of scoring in the cylinders. The timing chain can also stretch fairly quickly for overly active drivers. Transmission: The 6-speed manual transmissions, M6GF1 and M6GF2, are very reliable and have no major issues. The 6-speed automatic transmissions, A6MF1 and A6MF2, are also known to be excellent. Suspension: The suspension is very soft, but most of its components have a decent lifespan. Front shocks and bearing supports are often replaced before reaching 100,000 km. At mileages between 100,000 - 150,000 km, ball joints and hub bearings may also need to be replaced. The steering rack is reliable, and owners have no special complaints about the braking system.
