The camshaft lobes quickly wear out in these diesel engines during the first years of production. The timing belt phases often get misaligned due to chain stretching between the camshafts. Turbocharger lifespan is significantly reduced by the clogging of the coarse oil filter. The formation of carbon deposits is caused by the burning of refractory washers under the injectors. The remaining issues are related to the contamination of the soot filter and EGR valve.
