Kia Sportage 4

The fourth-generation Kia Sportage, in the QL body style, was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. However, our modification didn't appear until a year later, and its production was launched in Kaliningrad. There is an equivalent of the Hyundai Tucson crossover in the TL body style, which is similar in terms of main units and components. Sportage model line: JA (1993-2006) KM (2006-2010) SL (2010-2016) NQ5 (2021-present)

Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The paint is thin and easily chips, but the body is galvanized and does not rust. Owners complain about the short lifespan of the chrome coating and constantly fogging headlights. The materials in the interior are decent, and there are a good number of useful options. Engine The atmospheric engines 2.0 G4NA and 2.4 G4KJ are quite reliable and rarely cause issues. Problems with cylinder scoring have not been fully resolved and still occur. The 1.6-liter turbocharged engine has a low lifespan for the turbocharger and timing chain. The 2.0-liter diesel D4HA lasts long, but only with proper maintenance. Transmission The rare 6-speed manual gearbox M6CF4 is very reliable on this model. The 6-speed automatics A6MF1, A6MF2, and A6LF2 are also not considered problematic. The 8-speed automatic A8LF2 causes no trouble. The jerky D7UF1 robot is paired with a temperamental turbocharged engine, it's a matter of personal preference. Due to corrosion, the splines of the intermediate shaft of the all-wheel drive transmission can get stripped. Suspension The suspension is reliable, with only the shock absorbers and stabilizer bushings needing replacement before 100,000 km. The weak point of the model is the steering rack, which sometimes starts making noise as early as 50,000 km. In the first few years, the front brake pads wore out quickly and damaged the discs.
